고린도 전서 15장 45절의 ‘생명주는 영’을

아래 소개한 영어 성경 번역본들은  신약성경 회복역(the Recovery Version )처럼  고린도 전서 15장 45절에 쓰인 ‘생명주는 영’(life-giving Spirit)을 대문자 "S" 로 번역한 것들입니다.  이러한 번역은 원어와 그 의미에 충실을 기하기 위하여 많은 번역본들이 선택했던 번역상의 의견을 따른 것입니다. 사실상 고전 15:45의 생명주는 영은 신성한 인격인 예수 그리스도를 가리킴으로 생명주는 영의 첫글자는 대문자로 표시하여야 옳습니다. 아래 인용한 것들은 이러한 원칙을 따라 번역된 것입니다.

The New Testament for English Readers, Henry Alford, Baker book House, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49506.  This scholarly work consists of the Authorized Version (KJV) with its rendering "…a life-giving spirit" and Alford's notes on the verses which indicate his preferences in translation.  In his notes on 1 Cor. 15:45 Alford says, "…in the union of the two natures, the second Adam was constituted a life-bestowing Spirit…"  (Alford is sometimes referred to as the “Dean” of those who published this type of work, especially Word Studies.)

Jamieson, Fausset & Brown, Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible.  Commenting on 1 Cor. 15:45 says, "…the second Adam, who is the quickening Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17)."

 

The 1599 Geneva Study Bible has this to say in the last of three notes on 1 Cor. 15:45, "Christ is called a Spirit, by reason of that most excellent nature, that is to say, God who dwells in him bodily…"

 

M. R. Vincent, Word Studies in the New Testament.  “The period at which Christ became a quickening Spirit is the resurrection…” (Note on 1 Cor. 15:45).
